schneller, höher, weiter

Imagine being able to travel at the speed of light. This sixteen-page zine, which was the final project of a typography class, portrays that vision. The story tells of Lukas, a child who dreams of everything that would be possible at the speed of light. A faster way to school, traveling through space, and even exploring black holes are what young Lukas dreams of.

At the same time, the zine tells the story of Lukas' mother, a scientist who has been working on this very thing for years: How to get past the speed of light. Lost in the daily hustle and bustle and under immense pressure to perform, she loses sight of everything around her. She moves through life at the speed of light but forgets to actually live.

At the heart of the zine are contrasts: between dream and reality, between optimism and pessimism. However, these two worlds collide in the course of the story. The design reflects all of this, for example by actually turning around the story of the mother.
